In Your Corner

Legacy of Success

Legacy of Success

I was born and raised here on the Island of Oahu, State of Hawaii.  I attended the Kamehemeha Preparatory Schools and subsequently graduated from the Punahou High School Academy in 1977.  I earned both my undergraduate degree and Law School Degree from Brigham Young University, Provo, Utah.

As a Chinese / Hawaiian native born resident of the State of Hawaii I am very familiar with the cultures and attitudes of a multi-cultural community and the intricacies needed in navigating through a unique criminal justice system here in Hawaii.  Spending most of my years as a Deputy Prosecuting Attorney I have become very familiar with the Judicial system not only from the perspective of a Prosecutor and a Criminal Defense Attorney, but from a Judge's perspective as well. With these varying perspectives of experiences, I feel I can effectively help you navigate through the sometimes very intricate and confusing network of the Criminal Justice  System.

Legacy of Success

I have been practicing in the area of Criminal Law since 1985.  With over 130 Jury trials taken to verdict, I have developed a firm working knowledge in the Criminal Trial process and a proven track record of success both as a former Prosecuting Attorney and Attorney General as well as a Criminal Defense Attorney. I will use that experience to help you down a path to the results you need.

Leading a successful career as an attorney, I have worked on hundreds of cases involving tax fraud, theft, and domestic violence. A member of the Hawaii State Bar Association, I have served clients on all Islands throughout the State. Today,  I work as a criminal defense attorney in Kailua. Prior to my current  position, I gained legal experience spanning over 35 years. As a former Deputy Attorney General, I worked on many cases, including social welfare fraud and sex offender registration violations. Past roles included supervising investigations, preparing charging documents, and leading jury trials.

While an undergraduate student, I studied business management and finance. Later, I was awarded the Scott B. Brown academic scholarship award for my law studies at the J. Reuben Clark School of Law at Brigham Young University. After graduating from law school, I received special training in white-collar and violent crimes.
